I
want to thank you both for such a beautiful relaxing place to
stay. The only complaint I have is having to leave.
The cabins are beautiful, the whole place is just so peaceful
and relaxing. We will be seeing you again!

Foxfire Campground is my absolute favorite vacation
destination! I enjoy the serenity and peacefulness of the area
and meeting new people each time I visit. The cabins are
immaculate and beautifully decorated. Reece and Debbie have
outdone themselves and always make a great effort to ensure
every stay feels like my home away home. Whether camping with my
family or a weekend getaway with the girls, I always leave
feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. I will continue to visit every
chance I get!

We were in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area wanting to
raft and zipline and found out the rafting guide companies there
actually take all their customers by bus to Hartford (about an
hour away) to raft the Pigeon River. So, we decided to
head to Hartford to stay. Fox Fire Riverside Campground is
basically on the part of the river that separates the upper from
the lower part of the river that’s rafted (the upper river is
for the more adventurous, while the lower is for the younger
and/or less daring) and they have a rafting company RIGHT THERE
on site. So this is a great campground for a family that
will be floating both the upper and lower river. The RV
area is great for people who like spacious and well maintained
sites… and the natural tent sites are located right down on the
river in a beautiful wooded area.
PLUS Fox Fire Riverside Campground is located right next
door to a super fun zip-lining tour (Canopy River Tours) that
"zips" you over the Pigeon river (twice) and is also next to
multiple other rafting/kayaking companies (if you choose to go
off site). We also found the “downtown” area (which is
simply the I-40 exit corner, haha), and also very nearby, to be
full of pleasant surprises. The restaurant on the river
has the best outdoor seating view of the river and the BP
station/restaurant across the street has great food & service
too (try the cheeseburgers or the ribs). The energy of the
area on rafting days makes one want to just hang out for no
reason at all other than to be part of it.
We originally planned on staying for a day or 2, and
ended up staying 10. Everyone in the area is SUPER
friendly, but the icing on the cake was the camp host/owner
Reece and his wife Debbie. We wanted to tuck them nicely into
one of our storage bins and take them home with us.
Thanks guys for a lovely place to stay… a campground
that makes you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, yet
right in the middle of it all!

Reece,
I just wanted to thank you for being so accommodating. Just like
you said, Fox Fire is truly beautiful and a great place to be. Your location worked out great for my family. With my daughter,
her husband and our two grandchildren living in Aiken, S.C. and
the rest of us living in Louisville Ky. neither one of us have
to drive a long distance to meet at your campground and stay a
few days. We loved tent camping on the river while my daughter
and her husband and children got to stay in the cabin. We also
had a blast whitewater rafting and the zip line was also a rush,
not to mention the great fishing! I told my wife when we were
pulling out of your driveway, "I miss this place already." She
said," We'll be back next year", I can't wait that long... See
you in October when the leaves are in full color.

Our family made their first trip to Fox Fire Riverside
Campground in July of 2010. We were visiting the area because
our youngest daughter is a whitewater river rafting guide in the
area. Our two other daughters and their husbands also met up
with us there. Although it was hot & muggy in Tennessee at that
time, we had chosen to stay in one of the camp’s brand new
cabins with air conditioning! Our cabin was well built, nicely
outfitted and very clean. So after rafting, swimming and hiking
everyday, it was always so nice to come back to such a “cool”
place to stay. Located right on the Pigeon River, the
comfortable surroundings at Fox Fire Riverside Campground made
our time there one of our best family vacations ever!
When Maggie’s brother and his young family saw our
pictures from that 2010 trip, they decided to make a summer 2011
trip to Hartford and go river rafting as well. We were excited
to help set up the trip and knew we had to stay in the Fox Fire
cabins again. When we contacted Reece @ Fox Fire about the
rental we were so please to hear him say he had remembered (in a
positive way) our family from the previous summer. He was happy
to know we were returning for another stay. With a larger group
this time, we were fortunate Reece had a second cabin available
also. It worked out perfectly with a shared picnic area between
the cabins with gas grill, charcoal grill and a fire pit. We
spent our days rafting, fishing, hiking up the mountains to
watch a beautiful sunset and hanging out in the clear, cold
mountain stream at Midnight Hole at a park on the border with
North Carolina. There was nothing better after our busy days
than returning to our cabins with air, cooking out, laughing and
enjoying being together with family. Thank you, Reece, for
making it all possible with your fabulous Fox Fire Riverside
Campgrounds!
